Little Mulberry Park Structures

Little Mulberry Park Phases I & II

The design of this new 480-acre passive park (phase I) includes several structures: a midsize picnic pavilion with an adjacent outdoor classroom area, two small picnic pavilions, an orientation kiosk, a restroom building and a maintenance building. A key project goal is the careful integration of the architectural structures with the landscape. The building design vocabulary consists of natural materials used in a rustic style. The open pavilions utilize heavy timber beams and trusses, natural stone, and cedar shake roofs. The maintenance building utilizes building orientation, window placement and passive ventilation techniques for energy efficiency and occupant comfort. The original development was completed in the summer of 2004. Two years after the opening of Phase I a second phase of development for the park included an additional restroom facility and orientation kiosk.
